Amin Moghavami, Acting Head of Iran's Building Engineering Organization, emphasized the significance of the upcoming International Conference on Energy Consumption Management in Buildings and Related Industries (July 2025), describing it as a pivotal opportunity to revolutionize Iran's energy sector.
Emphasizing the role of the Building Engineering Organization as the intermediary link between government, industry, academia and the profession, he stated: "Given the current situation regarding Section 19 of the National Building Regulations, it is essential that this conference not be limited merely to presenting papers and theoretical discussions, but rather lead to tangible, executable outcomes."
The Need for Transformation in Energy and Construction Sector
Referring to the training and specialized courses held so far, Maghoumi expressed hope that this conference could become a turning point in transforming energy consumption management. He emphasized: "This event should not remain solely at the level of engineering profession, but its impact must also be evident in industry and other related sectors."
The Acting Head of the Engineering Organization also mentioned the new edition of Section 19 of the National Building Regulations and Control, announcing that its review process would soon be finalized for official approval. He stressed that by forming two specialized committees - one in industry and another in scientific fields - the capacities of this sector could be identified and the country's key issues in this area properly managed.
The Necessity of Policymaking and Collaboration of Related Institutions
Maghoumi emphasized the need for clear goal-setting and post-conference action management, stating: "It is essential that scientific events go beyond the framework of meetings and papers and translate into executable policies." He also described the presence of executive bodies, institutions and relevant universities in the conference's Policy-Making Council as a positive development that could help shape fundamental changes in managing the country's energy imbalance.
Future Perspective
In conclusion, the Acting Head of the Engineering Organization noted that the approval of the new edition of Section 19 of the National Building Regulations is just a starting point, and that the cooperation of provinces, collaboration of related institutions and parallel actions in the months leading up to the conference could play a significant role in promoting energy optimization culture and increasing the conference's national impact.
This conference will be held in July 2025, prior to the General Assembly meeting of the Building Engineering Organization, and is expected to bring about a fundamental transformation in building energy management and related industries with broad participation of experts, academics and industry professionals.
